In 1966, Ike and Carol Feldman brought Ethan Allen furniture to Atlanta and successfully owned and operated The Carriage House for 25 years. Their daughter and granddaughter have now followed in their footsteps with a store of their own. In the fall of 2006, Bobbi Kelman and Dana Kelman Stein, as both mother-daughter and best friends, followed their dream and opened their own furniture store. They have successfully filled a much needed void in the Vinings/Smyrna area, with Precious Cargo, a baby, kids and teen furniture and accessories store.
Bobbi literally grew up in the furniture business and has spent the last 30 years working in various capacities within the industry and specifically within the baby, kids and teen division. An interior designer by trade, Bobbi has worked as both a manager of a furniture store and as a manufacturer’s representative. This has provided her with a unique perspective on all facets of the industry and has equated into a better shopping experience for her customers. As their customers continually attest, Bobbi’s interior design service has been an added feature to Precious Cargo.
Dana is a graduate of The University of Georgia. After 4½ years at Turner Broadcasting’s in-house advertising agency, she gave up the life of Monday morning department meetings and cubicles for a new world of cribs, diaper bags and Baby Bjorns. Though she has been in the industry for only a short time, she is quickly gaining the knowledge and experience of a seasoned veteran. Dana is about to became a mother herself. She is now not only the Vice President of Precious Cargo, but also a client.
Precious Cargo has proved to be the one-stop shop for the decoration of your child’s bedroom that Dana and Bobbi envisioned. The store offers products and looks to create the perfect bedroom for any aged child. From newborn nurseries, to toddler and teenage bedrooms, Precious Cargo has what you need for the room of your dreams (and your childs). Specifically, Precious Cargo features and sells furniture, bedding, rugs, art, lamps, chandeliers, window treatments and much more.
Precious Cargo has recently expanded to offer you even more great products. This has provided a natural split of the store into newborn, toddler and young-adult divisions.
Precious Cargo has been awarded Best Baby Store in 2007 and 2008 on Atlanta’s citysearch.com. Precious Cargo has also been featured on Robyn Spizman’s Shopping Report on 11Alive News.
Customer service has, and always will be, extremely important to Dana, Bobbi and the rest of their employees. Their goal is to make sure every person who walks in the door is extremely comfortable in their surroundings. They both understand the overwhelming feelings that come with the birth of a new baby and the raising of a child. They cannot promise help with 3AM wakeup calls or Algebra homework, but they can promise that the shopping for the furniture and accessories for your child will be an enjoyable experience and will lack stress and anxiety. As the name implies, your children are your most precious cargo, and we firmly understand, and believe that. Drop on by, and let us help you design and furnish your child’s room!
